Classes resume for Vici Public Schools on Wednesday, January 3rd. VHS basketball will start the new year on the road – The Ward Center Classic begins Thursday in Seiling where the Lady Indians will take on Goodwell at 4:15 pm and the Indians will match-up with Cimarron at 5:30 pm. Allen Tune was approved as the new Vici High School Boys Basketball Coach at last Monday’s Vici School Board Meeting.
On Monday, December 11th Dewey County Commissioners approved a road use agreement with Persimmon Creek Windfarms but delayed action on liquor by the drink.
The Vici Lady Indians overpowered Waukomis 49-28 advancing to the championship game of the Mooreland Holiday Classic. Ashlyn Watkins led Vici in scoring with 11 points. Jade Hazelbaker also finished in double digits with 10. Jacee Barr and Lauren Morris contributed 9 each. For the 5th consecutive year, the Lady Indians will vie for the championship against Sayre Lady Eagles. Game time is 6:30 pm. The Vici Indians dominated Beaver from the get-go to earn their shot at the championship trophy, final score 75-46. Abel Miramontes steered the Indians to victory with 25 points. Kason Jackson and Hunter Halderman contributed 11 and 10 points respectively. Colten and Chase McCracken had 7 each. The Indians head to the championship game for the first time since 2010 where they will face the 8th ranked Ringwood Red Devils. Game time is 7:55 pm. Colton McCracken and Raegan Watkins were crowned 2017 Homecoming King and Queen last Friday.
Town of Vici Trustees will consider changes to the use of the airport. The town’s auditor has questioned the usage of the facility. The town has also been approached about using the area for athletic or ag purposes.
Dewey County Commissioners will discuss the possibility of placing liquor by the drink on the ballot at their next meeting on Monday, December 11, 2017.

Well that was fun! The Vici Vision held a contest last month and supplied our vendor who sold the most newspapers with a $25.00 gift certificate to issue to the first person buying a newspaper at their establishment in December.
B-Mart convenience store sold the most newspapers in November. Dennis Schandorf was the first person to buy a copy of The Vici Vision at B-Mart this month!

A transport truck roll over Friday, November 10th did not result in any injuries. Highway 60 between Vici city limits and the Y was blocked for several hours.
Among other items, Vici School Board discussed and voted on a bond issue that will land on the February ballot.
