Vici School Board Calls for Bond Election

untitled (3)In a special meeting on January 29, 2016, The Vici School Board voted unanimously to hire financial consultant, Stephen H McDonald & Associates, and to call for a bond election on April 5, 2016.

The bond would be for $800,000 general obligation bonds; $650,000 to construct a multi-purpose facility for livestock shows and other uses, and $150,000 for construction/remodeling of a baseball and softball hitting facility.

The bond would increase ad valorem taxes 4.99%, or $4.99 for every $100 paid in property taxes. If passed, the increase would not go into effect until 2018.

Ladies and Indians Fall at the Shootout, Playoffs Near


The Lady Indians fell 30-37 to the Forgan Lady Bulldogs at the championship of the Shattuck Shootout yesterday. The Indians were also on the low side of the score against Sharon-Mutual, 56-63, in the consolation final. Congratulations to senior, Misti Boatman, and sophomore, Ashlyn Watkins, who were both named to the All-Tournament Team.

Both Vici teams will return to Shattuck next Tuesday, January 26, as the end of regular season play draws near.  Canton will arrive in Vici on Friday, January 29 for the last home game of the season. The 29th is also Senior night and Pink Out. The Ladies and Indians will travel to Leedey on January 30th where the ladies are scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. tipoff. The last regular season game is scheduled for February 2nd at Seiling. Support these teams as they finish the season and prepare for playoffs. If you are unable to attend, view the games online at

Tentative information has been released for post-season play. Vici is listed as the host site for our district that includes Okeene and Lookeba-Sickles. Districts are February 11-13. Woodward is listed as our regional site, February 18-20. Southwestern Oklahoma State University is listed as our area site, February 25-27.

Ladies and Indians Play for Championship & Consolation

The Vici Lady Indians defeated Shattuck yesterday, recording a 44-34 win. They will take the court with the Forgan Lady Bulldogs in the championship game at the Shattuck Shootout tonight at 5:30 pm. Get your travelin’ shoes on and head to Shattuck, this should be a good game. The 10th ranked (Class A) Lady Indians defeated Texhoma earlier this month at the Ward Center Classic Tournament in Seiling. The 5th ranked (Class B) Lady Bulldogs are 16-1 on the season, with the only loss to Texhoma.

The Indians won over Woodward JV yesterday with a last second, three point shot by Braxton Smith, final score 48-45. They will meet with Sharon-Mutual to battle for the consolation game at 1:45 pm. today.

In other news, Class A basketball powerhouses Okarche Lady Warriors and Seiling Lady Wilcats are playing for the championship of the Bi-County Tournament in Elk City tonight at 7:00 pm. Okarche is ranked #1 in Class A, Seiling is ranked #2. This game should determine the outcome of these rankings on Monday. The boys finals also includes Seiling (A#6) and Okarche (A#9).

Day 2 at the Shattuck Shootout begins Friday at 1:45 for Vici Boys where they will face Woodward JV. The Vici Indians fell short to Shattuck on Thursday 34-48.

Vici Girls are in for a test today, they will play Shattuck at 5:30pm. The Lady Indians dominated Sharon-Mutual yesterday with a 47-25 win.
