Baseball / Softball Tournaments Continue

Lady Indians fell short to Shattuck 7-12 but returned to the field Thursday night for a win over Timberlake 6-2. Pool play continues today at all three sites. Vici’s game-site times are 4:00 pm Vici vs Mooreland, 5:30 pm Mooreland vs Hammon, and 7:00 pm Vici vs Hammon.

Vici Indians pelted Granite 10-2 on Thursday. They advance in the winners’ bracket to play Drummond at 4:00 pm today. Friday and Saturday baseball games are all at Leedey. Here is your updated bracket:

Roadside Fire Quickly Extinguished – Red Flag Warning in Effect

A fire just East of Vici and along the South side of Highway 60 was quickly extinguished this afternoon by the Vici Fire Department.

The National Weather Service in Norman, OK issued a Red Flag Warning this afternoon through 7:00 pm this evening. With the WIND southwest to south at 15-25 mph and gusts of 30-35 mph, HUMIDITY 7-20%, and TEMPERATURE 75-84, the IMPACT is that any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Dewey County remains under a Governor issued burn ban through Friday, February 16th.

Classes Resume Jan 3, Ward Center Classic Starts Jan 4th

Classes resume for Vici Public Schools on Wednesday, January 3rd. VHS basketball will start the new year on the road – The Ward Center Classic begins Thursday in Seiling where the Lady Indians will take on Goodwell at 4:15 pm and the Indians will match-up with Cimarron at 5:30 pm. Make the short drive to Seiling to support these teams or follow the action on vicivisiontv.com where all 24 games will be available by live-stream.

Nine young ladies and three young men will vie for the titles of 2018 Miss Vici and Mr Irresistible. Learn more about the contestants in this week’s Vision. “Baby It’s Cold Outside” is the theme for this year’s contest on Tuesday December 19th beginning at 6:00 pm at Jerald Shaw Auditorium.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Letters to Santa from Pre-K, 2nd and 3rd grade students like the following one can be found in the Dec 14 issue of The Vision. “Dear Santa, This year, I have been very naughty but then nice. For Christmas please bring me a red Power Ranger with his car and the Power Ranger Mega Sword with bad guys. Love, Barrett”.

D&D Detailing LLC and The Dirt Road Depot are two businesses adding to the options for service and shopping in Vici.

Allen Tune was approved as the new Vici High School Boys Basketball Coach at last Monday’s Vici School Board Meeting.

On Monday, December 11th Dewey County Commissioners approved a road use agreement with Persimmon Creek Windfarms but delayed action on liquor by the drink.

 

Lady Indians & Indians Power Forward to Finals of Mooreland Holiday Classic

The Vici Lady Indians overpowered Waukomis 49-28 advancing to the championship game of the Mooreland Holiday Classic. Ashlyn Watkins led Vici in scoring with 11 points.  Jade Hazelbaker also finished in double digits with 10. Jacee Barr and Lauren Morris contributed 9 each. For the 5th consecutive year, the Lady Indians will vie for the championship against Sayre Lady Eagles. Game time is 6:30 pm. The Vici Indians dominated Beaver from the get-go to earn their shot at the championship trophy, final score 75-46.  Abel Miramontes steered the Indians to victory with 25 points.  Kason Jackson and Hunter Halderman contributed 11 and 10 points respectively. Colten and Chase McCracken had 7 each. The Indians head to the championship game for the first time since 2010 where they will face the 8th ranked Ringwood Red Devils. Game time is 7:55 pm.
